Load audiences from Amazon S3

You can load people and company lists into Primer by dropping CSV files to an Amazon S3 location Primer reads. It’s the automated version of a CSV import and works with pipelines like Snowflake, Hightouch and Fivetran. S3 loading is in beta and available on request.

What you can do

  • Automate scheduled loads from your warehouse or pipeline
  • Load files larger than the 25 MB in-app upload limit
  • See whether each file was ingested from the archived and failed folders
  • Feed Snowflake, Hightouch or Fivetran exports into Primer

How to set it up

  1. Ask support@sayprimer.com to enable S3 and send you your prefix
  2. Write people CSVs to {prefix}/datasets/people/ and companies to {prefix}/datasets/companies/
  3. Use the canonical CSV columns with a header row
  4. Schedule the full dataset each run; check archived/ or failed/ after each drop

Frequently asked questions

Should each S3 file contain the whole dataset?

Yes. Each file is a complete snapshot, so anything missing from the newest file is dropped.

How do I know a file was processed?

Primer moves it to an archived folder on success or a failed folder on failure.

Which tools can write to Primer’s S3 location?

Any tool that can write a CSV to S3, including Snowflake, Hightouch and Fivetran.
